JoWood has terminated its contract with Perception, the studio that
was creating a Stargate based game. As per the contract the source is
transferred to JoWood, and they can do whatever they see fit it. JoWood
CEO Albert Seidl stated quality issues forced the termination. In a
statement Seidl said, “In recent months we have invested a lot of time
and resources in helping Perception finish the development, but we now
simply have lost confidence in their ability to finish this project in
time and sufficient quality.” The future of the game is now unclear, as
the company needs to first determine if it is economically feasible to
finish development. It is possible that development might move a
next-generation platform.
While this seemed like a great spin-off for the Stargate brand, it
is good that an inferior game was not pushed to the fans. If JoWood
takes its time to find a good developer that can finish a quality game,
fans would be willing to wait for it.
