New Things…

Until you try something, you never know what is possible. You can never know how something will turn out till you try it. People can plan, and predict things till they are blue in their face but its still unknown till you actually try it out. We all know that we should try new things, it makes us better people. But what keeps us from doing this, and actually trying it out?

It’s the fear of the unknown, the gnawing sense of unease in the pit of our stomachs when we are faced with something new and never seen before. If this unease, malaise, whatever you want to call it, is strong enough it will paralyze you and stop you from doing anything. Its not good when your fear of the unknown stops you from trying something new. The thing is, most people don’t see it as a fear of the unknown, they simply see it as them being happy where they are right now. Because they are happy, they see no reason to try anything new. This is the bigger problem in my view. What if the new thing that you’re passing up could make you happier than you are right now? Wouldn’t you want that?

I guess what I’m trying to say is that you shouldn’t be content with where you are right now. If you have the opportunity to try something new, try it. Give someone a chance, and see what could possibly happen. You never know, you might end up happier than you were before. And happiness is what really counts, right?

Happiness, now that’s a tricky issue. What’s a good measure of happiness? But wait, can we measure happiness; it that even possible to do? Or is happiness just something that we will never truly be able to understand and figure out? I don’t think we can directly measure happiness, there is no happiness level indicator that we can tap into and monitor, but we can measure happiness through actions and words. Based on a person’s actions and what they say you can typically get a fairly good idea as to how happy they are.

I guess to bring this post to closure; I’m not sure where I’m trying to go with it. I was bored and this ended up writing this. In summary, try new things, give people a chance; you never know what might make you happier than where you are now. Happiness, of course, can only be measured indirectly by actions, words and mannerisms. So go, be happy!
