Browser to support BitTorrent

The new version of the Opera browser will have built in support for
.torrent files. This will let user open torrent files in the browser
and run the download with out the need for a separate program.
Currently specifics are not known regarding functionality, but it
should be something similar to current BitTorrent programs.

A similar concept is currently being developed for FireFox, yet nothing has been released yet.

Both projects aim to give more legitimacy to the BitTorrent
protocol, in providing more legal uses. Furthermore, these project
attempt to move torrents further into the mainstream consciousness of
internet use. The move into browsers, even without Microsoft’s Internet
Explorer, could accelerate BitTorrent’s role as a de facto technology
for distributing large files online. However, true support will not be
achieved until MSIE does support torrent files, which probably will not happen anytime soon, as Microsoft is creating their own competing product.
